Delphi Development and Programming at Cambria
Borland Delphi development and programming at Cambria began way back in 1984 when we wrote our first custom software project using Turbo Pascal. This was the predecessor of Delphi and many years later, still the language that Delphi Programming is based upon. We have been developing custom applications using Delphi from Turbo Pascal 1 through to the current Delphi 2007.
The Cambria Delphi Programming Team
The Delphi programming team at Cambria has actually been growing as more companies find that it's harder to find full time Delphi developers. Now that Delphi supports the .Net Framework and Win32, you can create rich client, Web, and Web Service applications. James Cerezo, Yuliy Belitskiy, Jonathan Mora, Dan Santor and Dick Crewdson makes up our very talented Delphi development team. Dick is president of the company and has programmed in Pascal/Delphi and C since Cambria first opened its doors. Yuliy, James, Dan, and Jonathan are also veteran Delphi developers. Jonathan started his exposure to the Pascal language way back in the Turbo Pascal era. One application he truly loves is his own template based code generator for Delphi. It creates optimized data access libraries and application GUIs for really rapid application development.
Delphi Development Projects
The majority of our Delphi projects now are for Delphi maintenance or Delphi version upgrades. Our current clients consist of Fortune 500 companies to even the smallest of businesses. Some of our projects consist of modifying an entire application to use a different database server such as the transistion from Flashfiler to MySQL for our client in Business Inteligence software. Almost all of the applications we develop in Delphi are used to store, search, and interact with data on a database server. Another application we are developing for our client with customers around the world, is a CAD based system used to design steel joists and steel frameworks for the design and building of bridges.
Why Delphi Programming
Delphi is a very powerful IDE (Integrated Development Environment). It is not only a language but also a platform. With the advent of the .Net framework, programmers were presented with a rich platform that will give them the type safety and elegance of component based programming. Delphi is in no way behind this technology. In fact, it is .Net that got most of its features from Delphi since the brain behind these two technologies is Microsoft’s (and formerly Borland’s) Chief Scientist Anders Hejlsberg.
Recent versions of Delphi already offers .Net framework development but it is not to say that Borland (or CodeGear) left behind native Win32 programming. Delphi is by far the only real choice for native Win32 development. In addition, programmers have a choice of porting their code to the .Net framework or to the Linux operating system.
