Optimizing for Google
Since Google is currently the most popular search engine, we strongly recommend that you read Google's Guidelines for helping Google index and rank your site. Some of their guidelines, like creating a site map and making sure there are no broken links, are things Cambria will do. Others, like avoiding Flash and including key phrases in the text of your site, are suggestions for you to keep in mind as you work with us to develop your web site.
Also, if your site is optimized for Google, it is also likely to rank well in other major search engines.
Advertising on Google
We also recommend that you look into Google's AdWords program, which showcases paid links to the right of their search results. We have found AdWords to be very effective for our own business.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Specialists
Although we have been in the programming business for 20 years, we are not a marketing firm. If you would feel more comfortable using a firm that specializes in search engine optimization, we can make some recommendations. However, we do want to warn you that there are a lot of companies out there that will resort to less desirable practices or will not be able to get your site into a top ranking. On this issue, too, Google has good advice. If you are considering signing up with an SEO company, you may want to have us check them out before you get started.
